Felipe Montoro Jens Interviewed on New Plan for Cleaner Water in Brazil

Felipe Montoro Jens is a leader of the business community in Sao Paulo. One of his main concerns is Brazil’s infrastructure, which has not kept up with the country’s economic growth during the 2000s. Now that the country is regrouping and looking toward foreign investment as a driver of growth, Montoro Jens views Brazil’s sanitation system as an Achilles’ heel. According to Montoro Jens, the government cannot go it alone, which is why he is supporting a new proposal from the Brazilian development bank. The bank will solicit bids for new corporate partners to help modernize the country’s waterworks.

Although water treatment is adequate in most large cities, in more remote areas services can be spotty. Many states with smaller populations have less political clout and limited resources, which over time has meant that certain populations and places are not getting the basic level of sanitation mandated by the Constitution. Another supporter of the plan, Edison Carlos, leads an NGO called “Treat Brazil.” The organization calls attention to the state of basic sanitation in poor regions and neighborhoods and believes that a public-private initiative is necessary. Although the vast majority of Brazilian homes have their water supply provided by local and state water providers, local governments lack the technology and funds to modernize their systems.

Felipe Montoro Jens is a Brazilian executive and business leader. He is a director of several international corporations and has over 25 years of experience in business. He is a graduate of one of Sao Paulo’s best colleges, Fundacao Getulio Vargas, and holds a master’s in business administration from Thunderbird.

Montoro Jens has extensive experience in real estate, finance, and transportation. His vast experience includes consulting and auditing for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is also deeply interested in the business of renewable energy and public-private cooperation to improve infrastructure. http://www.radaroficial.com.br/d/28075923
